---|---|---|---|---|
Randomized controlled trial | High | Not established on race/ethnicity, SES, or baseline measures of the outcome in the analyzed sample | None |
In addition to the randomized controlled trial, the study included a non-experimental group design (NED) study that compared the intervention group from the RCT to a comparison group of children from the community who did not have a history of maltreatment. This design had a confounding factor because all members of the intervention group were referred for risk of maltreatment, but members of the community sample did not have a history of maltreatment. Therefore, HomVEE is unable to separate the impact of the home visiting model from the impact of a risk of maltreatment. Thus, all findings from the NED comparison receive a low rating.
