Notes from the review of this manuscript

The manuscript is a randomized controlled trial in which participants had a higher probability of being assigned to the home visiting intervention group over time. Because people who joined at different times might differ in important ways (for example, demographic characteristics, health status, or effects of seasonality), HomVEE requires that such designs adjust for the different probabilities of being assigned to the intervention group. Because this study does not account for the differing probabilities of assignment in the analysis—and the intervention and comparison groups did not demonstrate equivalence on race, ethnicity, or socioeconomic status in the analyzed sample at baseline—it receives a rating of low. The manuscript examined education- and employment-related outcomes, but there was no indication the authors conducted significance tests on these outcomes. Therefore, these outcomes are ineligible for review. Findings from the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test are ineligible for review because they do not report impacts on a specific measure; information on this measure is based on correspondence with the author.
